Pretection to expand client base in luxury and sports market

Netherlands-based internet intelligence and security company Pretection International will be expanding its client base in certain industries and concentrating on forging more alliances in 2003.
Pretection International specifically wants to provide brand protection solutions to the luxury and sporting goods market. It will do this in a number of ways including appearing at various tradeshows and exhibitions.
The company provides online brand protection on a global scale to clients across all industry sectors. It detects online sales of counterfeit and pirate goods through continuous internet monitoring. In addition to this, its technology also detects other forms of brand attacks such as parallel importing and grey trade.
The company currently works with several brand owners including French luxury brands, well known sports manufacturers and well known musicians
suffering financial loss due to distribution of pirate CD's and DVD's. Pretection also has close links with the pharmaceuticals industry.
A spokesperson for the company explains that the pharmaceuticals industry is in need of protection from brand damage via the internet as it is happening more and more often.
The company has revealed that it will be opening at least one new European office at some point in 2003 to accommodate the expanding range of
international clients it is dealing with.
As well as monitoring the internet for brand owners looking for any possible brand attacks, the company also works closely with the clients to develop
brand protection strategies and is involved with enforcement in addition to this.
The company set up another division called Nettelligence. This focuses on business intelligence concerning brands. Mining the data from the internet on behalf of the client allows the brand owners to see what specific issues are at the present time and how similar brands are dealing with these.
The company considers itself unique in Europe at least, in terms of the range of services it offers to brand owners, as well as the technological solutions it supplies. It continues to increase its client base at a rapid pace.
